Jeff Norton Motorsport Paintings
Original paintings and limited edition prints of automotive subjects.

About the artist;

Jeff Norton has been a motor racing enthusiast since family visits to the blustery Rufforth airfield circuit in the late 60's, where he was captivated by the sight of Tony Dean's Ferrari 206 Dino winning the sports car events. Hitch hiking to major events such as the Oulton Park Gold Cup, to see cars like Chris Amon's Ferrari 312, Jochen Rindt's Gold Leaf Lotus 63 4wd, and Frank Gardner's Lola T70 Mk3b made sure he was hooked on the sport for life.

He trained in Business Studies & Graphic Design in the mid 70's but went on to pursue a career as a Menswear Buyer for a large mail order catalogue. Redundancy in 2004 provided the opportunity to become a professional artist.

As well as spectating at many race meetings, other hobbies were model car racing,  where his cars won numerous concours prizes for the best painted body shells, later going on to compete in Hillclimbs & Sprints in a borrowed Formula Ford. As an outlet for his artistic leanings he started to paint racing cars, word of mouth around the paddock leading to numerous commissions from his fellow racers, which helped to pay for his racing. Surprised at this initial interest in his paintings, Jeff went on to advertise his services and expand his painting into landscapes & wildlife.

Early commissions came from the Arrows F1 team, Marcos Cars, British Hillclimb Champion Roy Lane, and Pilbeam Racing Designs, which provided much encouragement and motivation.

In 1998 he started to exhibit various works at the quarterly exhibitions of the International Guild of Artists, achieving many sales, and being invited to become a Friend of the Guild at his first exhibition and being judged proficient enough to become a Companion of the Guild (CIGA) in 1999. Also in 1999 one of his paintings was judged 'Best in Hall', for which he received a larger trophy than anything he had won in his racing exploits !

In 2000 he submitted work to the Guild of Motoring Artists and was judged worthy of admittance to the Guild as an Associate Member (AGMA)

Working full time as an artist has allowed Jeff to take exhibition space at many major motor race, and classic car meetings in the UK, which in turn has lead to contact with many famous names in the motor racing world. Paintings or Prints are now owned by Andy Priaulx, Yvan Muller, Jason Plato, James Thompson, Matt Neal, Fiona Leggate, and Le Mans winner John Nielsen.

In addition to the paintings and prints offered for sale on this site, Jeff is happy to undertake commissions of any motoring subject, and these can be shipped worldwide.
